Took it slightly slower this Sunday and painted the ballet shoes for the portrait with the blue dress. This reminds me of how special I found my ballet shoes when I was little and the process of my Mum sewing in the ribbons.
The rituals around ballet shoes, prepping them for dance by chain stitching the end of pointe shoes and literally breaking them in by slamming them on concrete. The more used and battered the satin the more beautiful I think they look.
