Work placement details

Brief to prepare before your placement -

To design one garment to be made during your placement.  Please bring a sketch book with details of your research and designs for the garment.  Also bring the fabric for your design.

your design must fulfil the following criteria:

one garment (a skirt or top or dress) to be designed for yourself, something you would like to wear, can be for any occasion but able to be completed in a week.  Your research should show what the garment will be worn for (event etc.) design ideas and inspirations.

What to expect from your placement - Your placement will be split between shadowing our roles in the shop and working on your project.  Tea, coffee and water refreshments available, bathroom/toilet on the premises.

We will talk through your design on the first day and start pattern cutting. This will lead on to sewing your garment, discussing finishings and towards the end of the week we will talk about styling and presentation.

Your day will start at 10am and end at 5pm with a lunch break from 1pm to 2pm where you will be expected to leave the premises for 1 hour.

What to bring with you - please bring, comfortable, sensible shoes for going up and down uneven stairs, sketch book, phone/camera, lunch.
