Transparency and Ethics in Alexandra King Production
We believe that transparency and ethical fair production should be expected. All of Alexandra King's dresses and accessories are designed and manufactured at the Somerset studio. We source all of our fabrics and supplies from the UK working with Beckford Silks, James Hare Silks, Bennett silks, Tia Knight, Jaycotts, SE Simons, MacCulloch and Wallis, Litmans Lace, Organic Cottons and Liberty of London. Manufacturers that are credible in their processes.
It is very important to us that our products are made ethically and everyone involved in the product is treated fairly. We continue to purchase fair trade and sustainable fabrics and supplies where possible and hope to expand on this over time.
We now only use organic fair trade cotton or where a coloured cotton is needed cotton from Kona by Robert Kaufmann who has signed up to OEKO-TEX.
We actively ask our suppliers about their fabric sourcing and manufacturing practices.
The Environmental impact of our business is of equal importance. We recycle any scrap fabrics into either useable pieces, donation to local schools and for the fine scrap as fillings for our accessories. We try not to waste anything.
Yes we do love glitter and sequins but for these materials to stay on the dresses and accessories not in the environment.
Our packaging is mainly cardboard and paper and designed to store your purchase and is not to be disposed of in refuse. All can be recycled or put in the compost if needed.
Any plastic packaging should be reused.
Who is Alexandra King?
A real person who designs and makes the dresses in her studio in Somerset, UK.
Where are the garments and accessories made and how?
Every dress and product is designed, cut and sewn, one at a time in our Somerset studio. Alexandra King dresses are ONLY available direct from the website or studio in Somerset.
The 'Alexandra King for Deadly is the Female' collection is exclusively available through Deadly is the Female.
Are items really 'one of a kind'?
If it says its 'one of a kind' on the product description then that really is the only one in the world. Most of our dresses are and we rarely make more than one of the same garment.
We often use vintage fabrics or hand embellish designs with vintage trims so they can't be made in the same print or pattern again.
Your dress is truly unique and no one will ever have the same one as you. Something to treasure for a lifetime.
Garment Care
The hand crafted nature of our garments and luxury fabrics require specialist cleaning only. Your garment will have a care label and instructions on how to take care of it.We recommend your garment or accessory is
- stored away from the light in a wardrobe
- hung with the provided padded hangers or inside the dust bag and original box
- never machine washed unless advised
- carefully cleaned with a damp sponge for spot cleaning light marks and spills.
- taken to a specialist dry cleaners where they can recommend the correct care for your garment.
We also offer all of our customers a dress preservation/repair service if ever your dress needs a little tlc. Please contact us for details and pricing.
