All sorts of wild things are discussed on my trips to Frome to deliver my dresses to the Deadly is the Female boutique. So on this occasion in January 2025 I was not surprised when Claudia, owner and collaborator, suggested a wicked idea for Spring!
Enter the Pink Bunny Dress ....
How do we make the 'Claudia' gown something extra, something cosy and warm and cute? I had just arrived back from a trip to Japan where I had spent a night obsessing over bunny ear coats after seeing the most fabulous girl walking the streets of Harajuku in a white rabbit puffa coat.
Kawaii but make it Deadly!
We discussed patterns, prints and fabrics but settled on simple, pretty pink with a nod to cabaret in the design too.
In the following weeks I set about fashioning ears from coat hangers, samling shapes and crafting pink fleece into a gown to bring Joy to April 1st.
The finishing touches of the gown were finished in early March, a fitting month for enormous bunny ears. A tie belt mirrors the points of the ears that hang from the oversized hood, and a white fluffy marabou tail is pinned to the behind along with pink fluffy shoe clips on golden mules. A respectful nod to the cabaret club performers history.

It was as if an early Hollywood icon had possessed her and it couldn't have been more perfectly styled by Scarletts hair, makeup and modelling skills.
The 'Bunny Girl Gown' was born.
